Spectacular French Gold Five Franc Piedfort. Only 35 Made – $8,950

1977 French Gold Piedfort 5 Franc, PCGS Secure Holder SP-67. Amazing Satin Finish Proof Surfaces and a Fantastically Beautiful Design! I believe the coin is under graded by at least one point. There are a couple of extremely small die polish lines, one on each side, that the graders, being unfamiliar with the design, probably mistook for hairlines and causing them to lower the grade. It should be at least SP-68.

Population 1. PCGS has graded only 3 examples in all grades combined.

Diameter 29MM, about the size of a half dollar, but over two times as thick; .999 Gold. Go here for size comparisons to U.S. Coins:

Extremely low mintage of 35, but only a small handful are believed to be in collector’s hands.

This is a fabulous coin, and the kind of coin that I expect to benefit greatly from the advancement
and acceptance of certification in the world coin community
